What is the person going to do... Start making prints of a painting? And sell them? It's hard enough to sell prints of the paintings one carries. As nice as these paintings may be... And I know who Will carries... It's a bit overblown.

The best is of pieces in public museums whose images are in the public domain. Photographing art is not a crime. It's not copyright infringement. It harms neither the artist nor the artwork. In fact, the ever deadly "flash photography" that so many galleries and museums claim will cause their artwork to turn instantly to dust is ludicrous. For works on paper, protected in even regular glass, the effect is nil. Throw on some uv or museum glass and you'd have to have a speedlight powered by an a-bomb to do anything. And paintings on canvas? The humidity from your body is likely to as much, or more damage to them.

It's nonsense.

Thank you Jamie. I guess, if there was a vibrant color within the space that you would like to amplify or if there is a combination of sky and interior in the composition it may work. But being inside in tungsten or florescent lighting it would be harmful and an inconvenience to use. You would need to increase the exposure time or ISO to allow for more light to pass through the filter. Increasing the ISO could cause noise in the image. And if no tripod is present blur could be introduce from a longer exposure time, based on how little light is available.

Thank you for your feed back!

I was playing around the other day with mine for j...

I was playing around the other day with mine for just a few practice shots, and the difference was obvious and much better...For interior shots in lower light, I'd imagine it would just be in the way, but anything with sky and color? This is what we hope photography can provoke-emotion and curiosity.

What's more is that this series is not so much about the art- but an example of making a photographic statement. This statement being about the human condition- a social documentary. The fact that the pictures are artful simply add to the statement. Nice work. I would like to see more of this.

Thank you for your comment. We used it to back light a nice blue wall on a location shoot we did. It was the first time it was ever used for anything really pertaining to actual shooting. I do not plan on using these types of lights as a source to light my subjects. Our new studio strobes will be in this coming week. Thank you for sharing your story. I am glad to hear that I was not the only one who had a problem with them. It sounds like your situation was pretty intense. I couldnt imagine how intense that must have been to have happen.
